Meet Vogue.
This
quartet is Region 19's Fourth Place medalist for 2007. They represent three choruses: Two members
of Vogue sing together in Harbor City Music Company, one sings with
Pride of Baltimore, and two sing with Upper Chesapeake.
Cyd Wentsel (tenor) works for the
public school system, combining her lifelong dream of shaping
America's future with the exciting, daily physical danger of working
with children. Moving from baritone to tenor has been quite a
challenge for Cyd, who now finds herself getting lost driving home
from work and giggling at lame jokes.
Sharon Ehrisman (lead) is a violin
teacher — in other words, she spends her days teaching high-strung
kids. When not fiddling around, Sharon is studying the culinary
arts, trying desperately to satisfy her longing to be a master chef.
Her neighbors know she is "cooking" when they hear sirens and see
the smoke rolling out of her kitchen window.
Marianna Gellert (baritone...lead....no,...baritone) is a complete “Home and Garden
Channel “addict. So when she’s not playing “Statue of Liberty”...to
the birds that have fallen in the yard, or shielding the duck eggs
that have been laid in a high risk area,...you may find her
brainstorming new and inventive ways to “design on a dime”...yep,
she rescues that old lampshade from the dumpster...a little paint, a
few feathers, maybe some polka dots... and Voila! It’s a costume
accessory!!!!
Jill Bolich (bass) is an office manager
for a concrete company that makes manholes (Hey... somebody's gotta
do it!) When not skydiving or mountain climbing, Jill loves
traveling around the world singing back-up vocals for James Taylor.
The rest of her time is spent trying to keep the rest of her quartet
members from singing bass (as they have a history of repeatedly
switching parts)!

Network
Phyllis Dettmer (bass), Janet
Montrie (tenor), Blanche Johnson (baritone), Liz Sloan (lead) |
Network is made up
of four experienced women, uh, I mean barbershoppers. In fact,
between them, they have over 90 years of barbershop chord-ringing
experience! (Of course they all started singing at birth!)
Phyllis Dettmer, laying down the bass, lives in Reisterstown, MD and is an
administrative specialist at a hospital in Silver Spring, MD.
Blanche Johnson, filling in the baritone, resides in Columbia, MD
and is an independent consultant in the bio-medical marketplace.
Janet Montrie, topping off the tenor, has made her home in Laurel,
MD and is employed as a RN clinical supervisor at a hospital in
Silver Spring (yes, the same one as Phyllis!).
Liz Sloan, leading
the pack, has settled (for the time being) in Perry Hall, MD and
works for a government contractor in the computer software field.
Network originally formed in 1992, and harmonized for three years
before Liz moved overseas with her military spouse. During their
first stint together, Network captured third place regional medals
two years running! Network re-formed (unofficially) for fun at a
chorus retreat in the summer of 2005. After playing with the idea
for a couple of months, they decided to make it official once again!
Network looks forward to making those barbershop chords ring all
over again.

With a unique
sound and a wide range of songs, the repertoire of ShoreFire runs
from turn-of-the-century barbershop to contemporary standards of the
40s, 50s and 60s.
Although they collectively carry close to
100 years of barbershop experience to the stage, this particular
foursome have only been singing together for three years.
Baritone Sue Hebert
(a teacher), Bass Nancy Sterling (a physical
therapist) and Tenor Bonnie Lankford (a legal assistant) have been
singing and competing together in a quartet since 1990, and with the
addition of the “wild and crazy” Carol Ludwig (Executive Director of
the Ocean Pines Chamber of Commerce) as their Lead, they are “having
a ball!”
>In addition to providing ShoreFire with its crazy
antics, Carol also directs the Sweet Adelines DelMarVa Chorus in
Ocean Pines.
Quality
singing and the ability to laugh at their own idiosyncrasies is
their standard trademark, delighting each audience with their own
homespun humor. Unlike any barbershop quartet you have heard
before, they have a unique style – an intimacy – that is sometimes
crazy, sometimes poignant, and always musical.
Enjoy the
sounds of ShoreFire!
