The Pride of Baltimore is a women's chorus that sings 4-part a cappella barbershop harmony. Our goal is to "Harmonize the World". Singing Barbershop Harmony is what we love to do!
Our chorus received its charter in December 1993 with 23 members under director Janet Ashford, and over 15 years, we have grown to a chorus of over 100 women. We were very saddened by the loss of Janet in early 2009. However, her love and passion for this chorus lives on in each one of us, and with our new director, Joe Cerutti, we are working towards raising Pride of Baltimore to new heights. We are a Competitive Team. A commitment to excellence is shared by all members of the chorus and we compete regularly. We have competed within our organization, Sweet Adelines International, both on a regional level and on an international level and have earned multiple medals within the top 10 international standing, including three 2nd place medals! Needless to say, our eyes remain on the gold! We Love Performing! We enjoy singing for local events and have sung the National Anthem for the Aberdeen Ironbirds as well as sung at the (PanCan) Pancreatic Cancer walk, Fells Point Flower Mart, National Association for Music Education, and the Atlantic Harmony Brigade. Our quartets have also delivered singing Valentines. Our idea of fun is working hard and singing well!! We have many wonderful singers in our chorus. Because we sing a cappella, it is important that each team member is comfortable with all aspects of performance from singing to choreography. In order to achieve that, we use educational and review programs such as vocal instruction and chorus retreats that encourage each member to achieve her musical best. Would you like to sing with us? Our membership is not limited to the Baltimore area. We have members who hail from a five-state area that includes Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, New Jersey and Delaware. If you enjoy singing and desire to achieve your best, contact Peg our Membership Chair to find out about visiting us at our weekly rehearsals! |
